Selecting an Indoor LED Grow Light

A led grow light is an artificial light source to aid indoor plants grow properly. LEDs are the latest and greatest lights to hit the market as they have become efficient, reliable, and very energy-efficient. LED grow lights both attempt to give a similar light spectrum to that of our sun, or even more tailored specifically to the plant's needs.

To get started with an LED grow lights system, you'll need a few components. The first of which is a lighting device such as a fluorescent lamp or a metal halide bulb; these lights create the light that your plants will be receiving. LED lights come in a variety of shapes and sizes to meet your particular plant growing needs. The next thing you'll need is a ballast. Ballasts work in conjunction with your lighting system by adjusting the amount of light output so that your plants get the proper amount of light for their specific needs.

Depending on the type of plant that you will be growing, the wattage diodes will also vary. Metal halide lights are typically best for flowering plants that have high vigor and can tolerate a higher wattage. Fluorescent lamps are typically great for all indoor plants as they generally do not burn as brightly as metal halide lamps, but tend to put out a lot more heat.

One of the keys to getting optimal light production from your LED is to know how much light your plant needs. If you are planning on flowering plants, you'll need a correspondingly larger wattage bulb so that you can provide adequate lighting for blooming. Metal halide bulbs are best for general plant growth and for Photosynthesis. Your photocell will need to be carefully selected based on the type of plant that you will be growing.

If you are growing flowering plants, your bulb should be replaced about every three months. This ensures that your plants get the best chance to flower and produce flowers. You can use any type of light source in order to supplement your existing light source. One of the biggest reasons that people use indoor gardening lights is because they take up very little space and are energy efficient.

Most indoor gardening lights systems are designed to fit on the ceiling or table top with ease. Many users are able to replace the entire unit in less than two minutes with a screwdriver, making them easy to move around. Most units offer an adjustable voltage control which allows you to adjust the voltage so that it is perfect for your plants, making sure that you get the highest possible light output per watt. High-pressure sodium lights are usually the preferred option for Photosynthesis and flowering plants. They give off a lot of heat but tend to retain the heat longer and do not work as hard as high-pressure potassium lights do.
